Abstract

QUARTIERI, Marli Tereshinha et al. A study of continuing education for teachers of Elementary School mathematics. Rev. Fac. Cienc. Tecnol. [online]. 2014, n.36, pp.13-24. ISSN 0121-3814.

This article presents an analysis of continuing education courses offered to teachers of basic education in the area of mathematics. In these courses, teachers are expected to explore mathematical contents, as well as the use of the calculator and estimates. Although a group of researchers initiated discussions at their meetings, participants gave opinions about the viability and productivity of the activities and faced the challenge to develop some of them with their students, at least two of those tasks, describing the results in a report. The data analysis pointed out that the activities students and teachers developed the most were those concerning to the estimates and the use of calculator. It is important to remark that the space provided for reflection and exchange of experiences was really meaningful to innovate in the educational practice.
