Abstract
MORSCHHEISER, Luana Marciele; JUSTINA, Lourdes Aparecida Della and LEITE, Rosana Franzen. A Look at the Definitions of the Thematic Approach From Paulo Freire’s Perspective: What Do the Authors Say?. Rev. Fac. Cienc. Tecnol. [online]. 2022, n.52, pp.65-82. Epub Jan 30, 2023. ISSN 0121-3814. https://doi.org/10.17227/ted.num52-14688.
The present work arises from the difficulty in identifying and listing standardized definitions for the terminologies used in the use of the word “Theme”, especially the use of the Thematic Approach. Therefore, we present the use of the Thematic Approach as a teaching methodology as applicable by relevant authors to the field of education, to which we highlight Paulo Freire, a famous Brazilian philosopher, and educator, as the precursor of the teaching methodology under study. Thus, we present an article for reflection whose objective is precisely to explore the paths taken by the Thematic Approach methodology, listing some of its definitions related to research in science education, which we highlight: Generator Theme, Thematic Investigation, Freireana Thematic Approach, and finally a brief articulation with the curriculum, through the Curriculum Praxis via Generator Theme. Linked to Freire’s education proposal, a methodology that prioritizes the rupture of propaedeutic teaching only has to contribute to the conceptions of teaching and learning. The importance of the association between scientific concepts with the social and cultural environment in which a given school community is inserted.
Keywords : thematic approach; generating themes; thematic research; science teaching.
