Considering the articulations between communications, the media, journalism, and democracy and authoritarianism, with special interest in issues of political culture, this paper weighs the relationships between the political system and communications system and the ways in which journalism and the media are related from an informational perspective with social protest and news coverage of the peace process in Colombia.
