Abstract

CLEMENTE, Dario. RUY MAURO MARINI’S CONTRIBUTIONS TO INTERNATIONAL STUDIES FROM LATIN AMERICA. anal.polit. [online]. 2018, vol.31, n.94, pp.75-92. ISSN 0121-4705.  https://doi.org/10.15446/anpol.v31n94.78241.

Although widely unknown, the thinking of Ruy Mauro Marini (1932-1997) represents a fundamental contribution to international studies from and for Latin America. This article reviews some of the main categories of Marini’s work -subimperialism, antagonistic cooperation, continental interdependence and regional integration- with the objective of demonstrating the importance of recovering this theoretical and analytical body. While his study of the foreign policy of the Brazilian military dictatorship rightfully belongs to the discipline of international relations, his particular research perspective constitutes a true epistemological blueprint that can enrich Latin America’s international political economy.

Keywords : Ruy Mauro Marini; subimperialism; Brazil; Latin American international studies; regional integration..
