Abstract

GUTIERREZ SANIN, Francisco. TENSIONS AND DILEMMAS IN COCA PRODUCTION. anal.polit. [online]. 2019, vol.32, n.97, pp.71-90. ISSN 0121-4705.  https://doi.org/10.15446/anpol.v32n97.87193.

The challenges associated with coca cultivation have been the subject of more or less permanent debate since its insertion in the country. This article aims to characterise them, based on new empirical material-a survey of users of the Integrated National Programme for the Substitution of Illicit Crops (PNIS) in Puerto Asís and Tumaco, field work in these two municipalities, databases of PNIS affiliates in other territories and archival work-and a reflection on the meaning of coca in the long process of expansion of the agricultural frontier in Colombia.

Keywords : Illicit crops; Substitution; Policies; Colombia..
