Abstract
GONZALEZ, Jorge Iván; PECHA, Arcenio and PUENTES, Julio. Arbitration and exporting foreign-exchange in suitcases. Innovar [online]. 2003, vol.13, n.22, pp.97-108. ISSN 0121-5051.
This article examines the significance and implications of exporting foreign-exchange in suitcases from the perspective of arbitration. The economic significance of arbitration is discussed first, showing that exporting foreignexchange in suitcases is a form of arbitration. Physically moving foreign-exchange makes economic sense because differentials between street dollar-price and the market’s representative exchange-rate are very high. This approach questions other articles incorrectly identifying exporting foreign-exchange in suitcases with dollar-laundering.
