Abstract

BATISTA-CANINO, Rosa M.; BOLIVAR-CRUZ, Alicia  and  MEDINA-BRITO, Pino. MONITORING AN ENTREPRENEURIAL PROCESS THROUGH ITS BUSINESS MODEL. Innovar [online]. 2016, vol.26, n.61, pp.83-101. ISSN 0121-5051.  https://doi.org/10.15446/innovar.v26n61.57168.

This work addresses two objectives: From a theoretical point of view, deepening the understanding of the entrepreneurial process in its early stage and, from a methodological perspective, demonstrate the potential of the business model as a tool for exploring and studying the firm process at such stage. For this purpose, an adaptation to the theoretical framework for business models is proposed by developing a methodology for longitudinal analysis at this early stage of the life of a firm, presented through a revealing case. This supports many of the theoretical findings in this field and allows to identify new research paths. In this way, the paper reveals the importance of exposing the factors that influence the evolution of the entrepreneurial process through the analysis of the evolution of the underlying business model, and how the internal elements of the firm are in accordance with the environment in order to set up a business project in its early stage. This work helps at mitigating the need for developing longitudinal studies by including the temporal dimension in the business model, an issue rarely addressed in the literature.
