Abstract
QUEREJAZU, Amaya. Understanding and Questioning Global Governance. colomb.int. [online]. 2020, n.102, pp.63-86. ISSN 0121-5612. https://doi.org/10.7440/colombiaint102.2020.04.
Objective/context:
The article argues that although Global Governance (GG) is a widely analyzed phenomenon and a practice that is currently widespread, it is based on ontological assumptions that have not been sufficiently questioned. For that reason, its purpose is to offer a different understanding of GG based on ontological pluralism.
Methodology:
To identify these universalist assumptions, the article offers a state of the art from which an analysis of discourse and use of language is made in academic documents and institutional documents. Subsequently, a theorizing exercise is done.
Conclusions:
The analysis reveals that there is a universal approach to global reality as unique and shared that does not allow the GG to be thought of in more plural terms that admit spaces for difference.
Originality:
This article makes a different criticism of the GG, raising the discussion in ontological terms, managing to think the global in more plural terms, which have not been included in the academic discussions of the GG.
