RESTREPO LONDONO, AMANDA LUCÍA  and  SEPULVEDA RIVILLAS, CLAUDIA INÉS. COLOMBIAN ENERGY GENERATING COMPANIES FINANCIAL CHARACTERIZATION (2005-2012). Rev.fac.cienc.econ. [online]. 2016, vol.24, n.2, pp.63-84. ISSN 0121-6805.  https://doi.org/10.18359/rfce.2213.

This document has as its main objective the characterization from the financial point of view of most representative companies that traded on the stock market power generation from 2005 to 2012. Power generation in Colombia is concentrated in five companies according to generation volumes and sales in the regulated and unregulated markets. These companies were characterized from the analysis of financial indicators and correlations among them; the energy demand and the entry into operation of power plants. As a result is evident the direct relationship of energy demand growth in operating income, investments in property, plant and equipment and financial indicators; in addition to a financial structure shown in fixed assets and long-term financing.

Keywords : Power generation; Market concentration; Financial analysis; Generating plants.
