This paper reviews and analyzes the research published in indexed Mexican journals in EconLit: research related to the subject of trade opening effects in the actual sector of the Mexican economy. The article, from the theory of international trade, describes its contribution, not only in the first stage of economic opening, but also in the subsequent ones. Likewise, the areas that have received most of the attention and those that have been less addressed are identified, distinguishing between those that show more understanding and those that generate a greater debate, as well as the lessons of politics and strategy for the Future of Mexico.
