Abstract

SUAREZ ARAMENDIZ, Miguel Antonio. Political conflict, war and Constitution of Cadiz in Valledupar (Santa Marta Province), 1811-1815. Hist. Soc. [online]. 2013, n.24, pp.131-159. ISSN 0121-8417.

This paper seeks to show how was experienced in the ''Partido de Valledupar'' (''Provincia de Santa Marta''), the independence war of Nueva Granada and the advent of the ''Constitución de Cadiz''. From this case study, it will try show that the ''independence revolution'' in Valledupar, more than a project in favor to the ''independence cause'', was the result of the tensions raised between the provinces of Santa Marta and Cartagena. Furthermore, during the independence war, in the province of Santa Marta, efforts were made to implement the Cadiz Constitution. Valledupar was not the exception.
