Abstract
SAMACA ALONSO, Gabriel. The participation of the Santander History Center in the Centenary of the death of the ''Condor of the Andes'': Bucaramanga (1930). Hist. Soc. [online]. 2014, n.27, pp.137-163. ISSN 0121-8417. https://doi.org/10.15446/hys.n27.44647.
The Santander History Center began operations on July 20, 1929 as the body responsible for organizing the centennial commemoration of Bolivar's death in 1930. As the first major activity, local intellectuals decided to engage fully in the organization of the event in order to place the name of Santander and its heroes in the national context. As a result of their participation, the Center won local and national recognition as a socializing space dedicated to cultivate the regional past due to this national- scale event and set the foundations to develop other commemorations in the thirties and forties.
