Abstract

The development of rural tourism in San Juan Atzingo, state of Mexico, has been promoted bγ diverse international organizations, federal government agencies, private sector companies and even some civil society organizations. However, the activitγ has not been established and it is generating contradictor results on the components that determine the peasants' lifestyle and production. The paper identifies the socio-territorial impacts of the project Tlahuica Community-based Ecotourism (ECT), and it uses the commonalitγ proposal as a methodological framework for analyzing the implications for the territory the resources, the weakening of the organizational structures, the dγnamics of labor, reciprocity and even the transformation of typical cultural elements.
