Abstract

DAMONTE VALENCIA, Gerardo Héctor. Redefinition of Hydro-social Territories: Hydric Control in the Ica Valley, Peru (1993 - 2013). Cuad. Desarro. Rural [online]. 2015, vol.12, n.76, pp.109-133. ISSN 0122-1450.  https://doi.org/10.11144/Javeriana.cdr12-76.rthc.

During the last decades the growth of the agricultural exports sector in Peru has brought significant transformations to the hydric territories, especially in the valleys of the Peruvian coasts. Based on a case study, this research explains how these transformations have led to the redefinition of hydro-social territories, starting with the consolidation of a political and economic project of agricultural exports in the Ica region. The research meets this objective by following a qualitative methodology: bibliography review, ethnographic information, and validation of results.

Keywords : hydro-social territory; groundwater; State; agricultural exports; Ica valley; Peru.
