Abstract

GARCIA TRISTA, JENNY et al. Analysis of tenso-deformacional behavior of unsaturated soil for circular foundation with axial load. Ing. Desarro. [online]. 2020, vol.38, n.1, pp.181-196.  Epub June 07, 2021. ISSN 0122-3461.  https://doi.org/10.14482/inde.38.1.620.112.

The behavior of unsaturated soils has been the subject of numerous studies in recent years in soil mechanics, due to the difficulties for the application of traditional laws of soil behavior to the geotechnical problems for unsaturation conditions. The present investigation illustrates a compilation of the main aspects about the behavior of unsaturated soils, taking as a case study a circular foundation of 2 meter radius subjected to axial load, in order to obtain the tensions and deformations suffered by the soil under these conditions and compare them with those obtained for the soil in a saturated state. The study floor is a clay - sand floor with the presence of cohesion and friction angle, coming from the Toledo formation in Havana. For the modeling the software used was SIGMA/W where the parameters of the characteristic curve of unsaturated soil were included in the analysis.

Keywords : circular foundation; suction; the soil-water characteristic curve; unsaturated soils.
