Abstract

MANTILLA VALBUENA, Silvia Cristina. Towards a "glocal" perspective of the armed conflict in Colombia: dinamics and actors in transboundary and transnational spaces. Pap.polit. [online]. 2009, vol.14, n.2, pp.581-607. ISSN 0122-4409.

In the attempt to develop a theoretical reflection about the latest changes in the colombian conflict, this article proposes a review of the reconfiguration of the spaces, the actors and their strategies of confrontation from academic positions that sustain the appearance of a new scene in which the socalled "glocal" dimension has come consolidating like explanatory model of the dramatic changes in the economy, technology and space-time brought by the phenomenon of globalisation. From this perspective, the armed conflict in Colombia is presented on these pages, not only like evident expression of the imbalances associated to conflicting and unequal configuration of contemporary global system, but as well, like a complex and dynamic event . On the one hand, the resources, the advantage of the new scenes of confrontation and the strength of the actors in the local scope, depend today more on the globalised flows of criminal character, and on the other, the dynamics of the internal war "is connected" of effective form with other wars of global dimension as they are the wars against the drug trafficking and the terrorism, impelled by the United States through its global policies of security. As a result of this new context, and taking like datum point the recent process from underflow and/or regionalisation from the conflict, the cross-border and transnational spaces are constituted in this proposal, the suitable places for the analysis of the complex interconnection between the local phenomena and the global phenomena that have come giving form to the new conditions of the war that is lived at the moment in the country.
