This essay analyzes the role of the Chilean Army in the debate for development and the Alliance for Progress in the country between 1961 and 1970. The Army followed the idea of development through articles in its magazines, and contributed with it through of special courses for conscript soldiers, as well as in construction tasks carried out by engineering units and the Military Labor Corps.
