It demonstrates how the war against Spain had an impact on the mayors and how their value fluctuated with the country's political stability and instability. Likewise, the way in which the State's attempts to incorporate or separate the mayors from the major political issues, which had an impact on the events that marked the Republic of Colombia, is underlined.
