Abstract
RAMIREZ SUAREZ, LUIS EDUARDO. The multiform protestant identity in Latin America in the 20th century. Hist. Caribe [online]. 2023, vol.18, n.42, pp.171-199. Epub Aug 13, 2023. ISSN 0122-8803. https://doi.org/10.15648/hc.42.2023.3630.
To understand the phenomenon of Protestantism, it is important to recognize the political environment that brought it about and the theological influence on its formation and praxis. This article addresses, through bibliographic and documentary research, how the different expressions of Latin American Protestantism during the 20th century were forged under the influence of theological movements promoted by the World Missionary Congresses of Edinburgh and Panama, the Pentecostal movement, and the changes in American politics. These movements enriched Latin American Protestantism as a multiform movement with dynamic theology and praxis, enabling its contextualization and the development of its identity.
