Abstract
FORERO-BUITRAGO, Gonzalo A.; GUERRERO, Christian D. and HERRERA-RODRIGUEZ, Daniela. Computational hydrology and hydraulics applied to Tunal rainwater supply in Paipa, Boyacá Colombia. Ing. compet. [online]. 2021, vol.23, n.2, e2019502. Epub May 18, 2021. ISSN 0123-3033. https://doi.org/10.25100/iyc.v23i2.9502.
In El Tunal, Paipa, Boyacá, there is a shortage of water during the low water season due to the increase in population, the location of the collection points, pumping systems and the users, who are located on a mountain. Due to this, the population needs a supply with pumping systems that suppose a high energy cost. In this article, computer tools are used to find out the technical feasibility of a water supply system redesign, and finally propose a solution that reduces energy costs and water scarcity in the dry season at the same time. It is possible to conclude that the proposal can be technically viable, since it is possible to use the existing pipeline, by locating a new reservoir at a closer point to the supply point, therefore the hydrological point can supply the population according to the historical record of 14 years of rainfall at the IDEAM station closest to the project.
