Abstract

Objetives: To present the fauna and flora inventory associated to the timber stands in the Piapoco Indian Reservation (Barrancominas, Department of Guainía Colombia). Scope: Qualitative and quantitative inventory of observed specimens and information provided by the indigenous population.Methodology: Direct observation, specific annotations and specimens photographs, as well as social cartography. .Main results: The records of 16 Conuco or domestic plants, 8 cultivated fruit trees, 9 edible domestic plants,4 magic or pusuana plants, 16 industrial and artisanal plants, 13 medicinal plants, 15 palm trees, as well as 25 insects, 23 fish, 31 birds, 29 terrestrial animals, 13 arboreal animals, 13 domestic animals, and for the first time 72 plants associated to the vegetation stands of the Colombian Orinoquia are recorded, especially Muli (Cedrelinga cateniformis),Tzuzi (Couma sp.), and Kalima (Qualea paraensis), and with their Poaporo and Spanish namesare confirmed. Conclusions.It is apioneerworking understanding the present mega-diversity and its current and potential uses.
