GOMEZ-L, Yesica Yulieth; RUBIO-G, José David and VALLEJO-E, Luis Fernando. Nat. Univ. Caldas [online]. 2022, vol.26, n.1, pp.135-153. Epub June 09, 2022. ISSN 0123-3068. https://doi.org/10.17151/bccm.2022.26.1.10.
Heilipus elegans is a pest species associated with avocado plantations in different agricultural areas of Colombia. Unlike other species of the genus, known for their spermatophagous habits, its importance is manifested by the damage it does to the branches and the stem. To date, the precise diagnosis of the different development stages has not been resolved reason why this document describes and illustrates, for the first time, the diagnostic characters of the key structures of the adult, the mature larva and the pupa from samples obtained from avocado trees established in the Central Coffee Triangle of Colombia.
Keywords : Avocado borer; Colombian Coffee Triangle, development stages.
