Abstract

MARTINEZ-ROJAS, Alix Belén; LAGUADO-RAMIREZ, Raquel Irene  and  FLOREZ-SERRANO, Elkin G.. Success factors of ISO 9001 certification in companies based in Cúcuta and its metropolitan area. estud.gerenc. [online]. 2018, vol.34, n.147, pp.216-228. ISSN 0123-5923.  https://doi.org/10.18046/j.estger.2018.147.2599.

Given the challenge companies based in Cúcuta face when implementing a Quality Management System (QMS) which enables them to offer quality services, ensuring their sustainability and profitability, this paper aims to assess the impact of ISO 9001 certification on companies in the region. For methodological purposes, a validated instrument was administered to 71 companies. The quantitative results, analyzed through descriptive statistics, show that 23 out of the 24 criteria assessed are met in more than 95% of the companies analyzed, with continuous improvement being the factor with the greatest impact; while 13% of these companies reveal that innovation and development projects have not been generated after implementing a QMS.

Keywords : quality management system; impact; ISO 9001 certification.
