Abstract
ALONSO-CIFUENTES, Julio César; ESTRADA-NATES, Daniela and MUECES-BEDON, Brigitte Vanessa. Level of English in Colombian graduates of Public Accounting programs: Far away from the goal. estud.gerenc. [online]. 2021, vol.37, n.160, pp.335-348. Epub May 03, 2021. ISSN 0123-5923. https://doi.org/10.18046/j.estger.2021.160.3878.
This document seeks to determine if graduates of Public Accounting programs in Colombia fulfill the bilingualism goal proposed by the Government for 2014. Data from Saber Pro, 2011-2015, was analyzed from a descriptive and statistical approach (parametric and non-parametric proportions tests). It was found that only 5 of 118 registered programs statistically met the goal. Following the foregoing, it is evident that university students of Public Accounting programs are graduating with low levels of English in reading comprehension, the only component evaluated by the Saber Pro test. It does not evaluate listening, speaking, or writing.
