Abstract

GAVAZZO, Natalia  and  SUAREZ, Débora Gerbaudo. Urban and Cultural Integration of Migrations: Trajectories of an Argentine-Paraguayan Family in an Intermediate City. Territ. [online]. 2020, n.43spe, pp.154-176.  Epub Aug 20, 2021. ISSN 0123-8418.  https://doi.org/10.12804/revistas.urosario.edu.co/territorios/a.8294.

This article explores the trajectory of an Argentine-Paraguayan family in Eldorado and the particular ways of urban and cultural integration of migrants in this intermediate city of the province of Misiones, Argentina. Initially, it will address some urban and population transformations from which derive the city's "intermediation" characteristics. We examine the impact of the different mobilities on urban growth and deepen in the life experiences of "historical migrants" who were part of that process. Finally, we analyze the difficulties or possibilities that these migrants find to "integrate" socially and culturally in the town since their arrival to the present. Through an ethnographic approach focused on family trajectories, we highlight the role of migrations in the growth, urbanization, and cultural development of this Argentinian intermediate city.

Keywords : Urban integration; cultural integration; intermediate cities; immigrants; Paraguay; Argentina.
