Abstract

VAZQUEZ, Diego. The Humanization of Space: The Third Generation of Urban Requalification of the Central and Historical Public Urban Spaces of Buenos Aires City (2007-2019). Territ. [online]. 2023, n.48, pp.1-.  Epub Oct 05, 2023. ISSN 0123-8418.  https://doi.org/10.12804/revistas.urosario.edu.co/territorios/a.11066.

This article approaches the (re)production of public urban spaces developed by the local government within the process of urban requalification of the central and historical neighborhoods of Buenos Aires city during the PRO party administration between 2007 and 2019. A methodological design of case study and a qualitative analysis of a diverse documentary corpus based on publications made by the local government have been elaborated to reach these goals. The particularities of this process allow to affirm the presence of the third generation of urban requalification in Buenos Aires named as humanization of space for its references to Jan Gehl and his paradigm of cities for the people.

Keywords : Urban requalification; humanization of space; public space; circulation of ideas; new urbanism.
