Abstract

PALOMO-VILLA, Mónica Julitza  and  GALLEGO-BETANCOURTH, Martha Lucía. Citizen Co-Responsibility as a Mechanism for Strengthening Coexistence in a Town in Bogota. Territ. [online]. 2023, n.49, pp.1-.  Epub Jan 11, 2024. ISSN 0123-8418.  https://doi.org/10.12804/revistas.urosario.edu.co/territorios/a.11729.

Citizen coexistence implies co-responsibility behaviors. The study's objective was to analyze the elements related to citizen co-responsibility and its effects on coexistence in the Kennedy municipality. The investigative method was qualitative, descriptive, explanatory, non-experimental and cross-sectional. Information was collected through a questionnaire and analyzed by semi-structured interviews and documentary review. The data was later examined with participation rates and relationship diagrams. It was found that behaviors contrary to coexistence arise from the low co-responsibility between citizens and authorities, associated with individualism, ignorance, and mistrust between the parties. Joint responsibility can be improved if it is possible to strengthen and secure the interaction between the citizenry and the police through disseminating programs, involving community leaders, and consolidating the quality of the relationship. It is concluded that achieving co-responsibility demands the inhabitants' commitment to coexistence and an effective police function.
