Abstract

The solution of conflicts which take place in the society is one of the main topics in the organization and functioning of all states. Aware of this situation, the 1991 constituent included in the National Constitution the peace jurisdiction with the aim of widening the gamut of possibilities for the community to solve their differences. For this reason this kind of justice has as its main characteristic the solution of community conflicts through equity by means of a popularly elected person. Even though this figure was introduced in 1991, it only stared to function in Barranquilla in 2005. This article, result of a research, has the main goal of determining the image, knowledge and use of the peace jurisdiction in Barranquilla in 2010 and in this manner understand the way how this kind of administering justice is perceived by the citizens of Barranquilla.
