Foreign Policy Analysis (FPA) is a subfield of International Relations that helps us understand the cognitive, organizational and bureaucratic proccess, among others, that influence foreign policy decisions. Studying the international relations of Colombia from the vantage point of FPA theories could allow for the understanding of decisions taken in foreign policy that cannot be fully explained conceptually from International Relations Theories. This article specifies the differences between Foreign Policy Analysis and International Relations Theories, describes the main schools withiin FPA and, finally, analyzes works published in Colombia using FPA theories to track their development and identify trends and limitations.
