Abstract

HOYOS VALDES, Diana. Philosophy for children What it means and philosophical education. discus.filos [online]. 2010, vol.11, n.16, pp.149-167. ISSN 0124-6127.

In this paper I briefly present the basis of Philosophy for Children program, I examine some objections that have been made to it, and I explain why I think its comprehension implies the rejection of certain ideas that could be described as traditional within the conception of philosophical education. Finally, I value the importance of the project not only because it seeks the cognitive development of the students, but also because it aims to develop a certain character on them. One that enables the construction of a more fair society.

Keywords : philosophical education; educational goals; methods; children; resources.
