Abstract

DESTEFANO, Mariela Natalia. Conceptual and semantic representations in cognitive sciences. discus.filos [online]. 2019, vol.20, n.35, pp.45-60. ISSN 0124-6127.  https://doi.org/10.17151/difil.2019.20.35.4.

In this paper I will try to offer, reasons against Jackendoff's argument in which it is intended to identify conceptual and semantic representations. I will maintain that this argument is incorrect because it does not take into account the neuropsychological and psychiatric evidence against it. To do this, I will philosophically clarify what both types of representations consist of, and then, I will argue against the thesis of identification.

Keywords : Stimulus independence; systematicity; semantic features; aphasia; schizophrenia.
