Abstract

TALAVERA -DAVILA, Henry Valdemar. The hydric footprint in the urban structure. Bogotá’s traditional center. Bitácora Urbano Territorial [online]. 2018, vol.28, n.3, pp.99-110. ISSN 0124-7913.  https://doi.org/10.15446/bitacora.v28n3.67713.

This article intends to demonstrate the persistence of the water fabric in the conformation of the urban fabric of the traditional center of the city of Bogotá, being the base for the consolidation of places of collective use and street systems on old water channels, influencing the delimitation of future neighborhoods that are maintained until the present. The study shows that the city of Bogotá was consolidated at the beginning of the 20th century, going from a conformation of a village to a more cohesive structure based on places destined to the formation of a new citizenship; This transformation was carried out looking for the dissolution of its water system, but without conditioning it, it conditioned its morphology. The current situation of the traditional center shows the traces of its ancient water system and is currently a factor of deterioration of the center, especially due to spatial fragmentation and the abandonment of old water routes, which shows that the old habit of abandoning natural tissues is maintained, therefore, this study proposes to revalue the water fabric for the revitalization of central areas in deterioration, even more, it proposes to recover the territorial scale layout that gave rise to it.

Keywords : water footprint; urban-environmental structure; water architecture; traditional center of Bogotá.
