Abstract

CHANAMPA, Magali Elizabeth  and  LORDA, María Amalia. Informal settlements and urban regularization. Production of territorialities in tension. Bitácora Urbano Territorial [online]. 2020, vol.30, n.1, pp.141-150.  Epub Apr 06, 2020. ISSN 0124-7913.  https://doi.org/10.15446/bitacora.v30n1.69896.

This article, based on the PhD thesis in Geography of one of the authors, makes a brief conceptual tour around the geographical field, especially from the critical perspective of social geography, to reflect on the difficulties of access to habitat in the city; the production of informal settlements; the political and power dimension of the concept of territory to think about the processes of regularization and urbanization of these settlements; the spatial logics of state intervention aimed at the regularization of urban informality; and the experience of the subjects that inhabit these territories. Although the emphasis of the article is conceptual, the city of Comodoro Rivadavia (Chubut, Argentina) is taken as a case study to con-textualize and spatialize the discussion

Keywords : settlements; urban regularization; territorialization; Comodoro Rivadavia.
