Abstract

RINCON-ESPITIA, ANGÉLICA  and  MATEUS, NANCY. Morphological and anatomical characterization of the genus Stereocaulon Hoffmann (Lichenized Ascomycetes) in Colombia. Caldasia [online]. 2013, vol.35, n.2, pp.241-260. ISSN 0366-5232.

The genus Stereocaulon is highly variable morphologically and anatomically, and a poor understanding of such variation is often the cause of intraspecific taxonomic errors. For this reason, and to facilitate taxonomic identification, a morpho-anatomical characterization of the diagnostic characters (phylloclades, soredia, and cephalodia) is presented. In this contribution 19 species of Stereocaulon, along with five varieties, are recognized for Colombia, information on the species geographic distribution is expanded, and a taxonomic key for identification of the Colombian species are provided.

Keywords : Stereocaulon; phyllocladia; cephalodia; soredia; lichens of Colombia.
