Bogotá city traffic has been having progressive circulation constraint measures and a new determination was taken in January of 2009 which banned the mobilization of 40% of the private cars during working days. This research evaluated the traffic noise in one of the most important avenues of the city because of this measure and the no car day. With the new restriction, neither vehicles nor traffic noise, showed decline, however, during the no car day there were more public vehicles (buses and cabs) and consequently, higher sound pressure levels, which are upper the norms and represent a healthiness public problem.
Keywords : urban ecology; acoustic pollution; traffic noise; traffic restriction.
