Abstract

OSORIO PEREZ, Flor Edilma. Ruralities in Movement. Reflections on Collective Actions of Rural People in Colombia. Rev. colomb. antropol. [online]. 2016, vol.52, n.1, pp.41-61. ISSN 0486-6525.

This article examines and analyzes trends in a diversity of collective actions carried out by rural populations in Colombia, which reveal cycles of protest and accumulated dissatisfaction, as well as local collective spaces to solve major and minor problems of everyday life. 158 examples of collective actions, most of them carried out from 2000 onward, in 23 departments of Colombia, were systematized. This analysis identifies problems, needs, and interests that articulate and express old and new challenges, and offers broad reflections on traditional and emerging processes, actors, and actions. The diversity of collective actions, their scenarios and scope, express the permanent movement of rural people -marked by concrete protests and proposals- and corroborate their capacity and validity as political actors.

Keywords : collective action; peasants; indigenous people; afro-descendants.
