This article examines the construction and repair of domestic infrastructure for water storage in a continental neighborhood of the port-city of Buenaventura, Colombia. It explores these socio-material practices as forms of articulation between the state and local dwellers in the context of water shortages. I argue that these constructions simultaneously co-produce the state apparatus and redefine its limits. The article builds upon ethnographic material collected during several research stays between November 2018 and February 2020 and represents a contribution to the anthropology of the state and of infrastructure.
