Abstract

LAITON-SUAREZ, Mildred Paola. Flexible prototypes. Housing project in the poor neighborhood of Buenos Aires (Soacha). Rev. Arquit. [online]. 2017, vol.19, n.1, pp.70-85. ISSN 1657-0308.  https://doi.org/10.14718/revarq.2017.19.1.1271.

Forced displacement in Colombia is evident throughout the country's history; it is a permanent notion in the urbanization process of cities and in the socio-demographic composition of the country. Bogotá is the main recipient of displaced persons, even though they are often dispersed in certain sectors, for example in municipalities surrounding the city, such as Soacha. In order to analyze this phenomenon, numerous visits were carried out to the poor neighborhood of Buenos Aires, located in the municipality of Soacha; with community participation, current problems regarding public space, equipment, and housing were identified. In response to the problem, it is proposed that the housing solution be as economical as possible; as a prototype, the paper proposes a structure with free spaces and fixed services, which will be developed according to the economic capacity of each user. The prototype also recommends strategies such as high-rise housing, progressive housing, auto-construction and flexibility in the interior, adapted to the structure and necessities of users.

Keywords : Participatory development; social adaptation; housing needs; housing design; living conditions; priority interest housing (in Spanish; VIP).
