Abstract
ECHEVERRIA, Mishell. The intervention and planning of housing in formality or informality. Rev. Arquit. (Bogotá) [online]. 2022, vol.24, n.2, pp.72-83. Epub Nov 25, 2022. ISSN 1657-0308. https://doi.org/10.14718/revarq.2022.24.3994.
Architecture is a reflection of society, and it changes, just as philosophical thinking, politics and economics change too. Today, society is more diverse and less hierarchical, which leads to changes in social structures. Therefore, the conception of housing must also be different, and the future well-being of individuals is being reconsidered. Housing itself has evolved: with the influence of modernization processes, it has become a commodity, and its analysis is generally made from the technical, formal and economic aspects, leaving aside social problems and the lack of satisfaction of life's necessities, which causes an increase in the qualitative deficit in the housing problem, especially in Latin American countries. From the Bourdian notion of habitus, the aim is to understand how each individual organizes his or her space and produces domesticity, It is through understanding individuals and their needs that it is possible to intervene and project for the future, This leads to rethinking the role of architecture, since sometimes it only treats the architectural object as a physical element. Architecture has a contribution to make in the social sphere, and the participation of users in the planning and intervention of housing can be included, where needs, experiences and, above all, the feeling of empowerment of the place can emerge.
