Abstract

LOPEZ GONZALEZ, Mauricio; MESA CALLEJAS, Ramón Javier  and  TABARES OROZCO, Elkin Darío. Labor Market in the subregions of the Department of Antioquia: Diagnosis and Policy Recommendations for the East and Urabá. Perf. de Coyunt. Econ. [online]. 2013, n.21, pp.139-171. ISSN 1657-4214.

The main objective of this paper is to perform a comparative analysis of the labor market between subregions of East and Urabá in Antioquia. To achieve this objective, and taking into account that there is not information for the local scope, the Applied Macroeconomic Group of Antioquia's University has collected information for two subregions of the department: East and Urabá. Results shows that unemployment in both subregions is higher than the national mean and that unemployment rate for Medellín, young and women are two highly vulnerable groups and in both cases there is structural unemployment, being much higher the case of Urabá. As recommendations authors suggest to work in programs of higher education more relevant and with higher quality, work to connect needs of suppliers and applicants and work in the consolidation of new productive chains
