Abstract
AVELLA VARGAS, María Esperanza; CORDERO CAMACHO, Claudia Patricia and VELEZ FLOREZ, Germán Eduardo. KNOWLEDGE OF MEDICAL STUDENTS ABOUT CLINICAL RESEARCH ETHICS ON DRUGS. rev.latinoam.bioet. [online]. 2014, vol.14, n.2, pp.38-51. ISSN 1657-4702.
For this research, we performed a descriptive analytical study to estimate the knowledge of our students about ethics concepts in pharmacological clinical research on human beings. Two hundred and thirty eight registered students, terms IV to IX, in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the Army University "Nueva Granada" (UMNG) were anonymously and volunteering surveyed. We noticed that the average knowledge about ethical principles in clinical research, among the surveyed students, was from 50 % to 60 %. No differences were observed between students registered in different terms. Based on the results of this first diagnosis, we propose to reinforce the ethical education of medical students by including, along the clinical area, complementary activities such as seminaries or subjects. Those activities would be designed not only to give information about ethics and guidelines, but also to build up judgment, which we consider it is essential for the professional practice.
Keywords : Clinical research; drugs; ethical principles.
