Abstract
SOARES DE LIMA, Suzinara. Nursing during the Low-risk Prenatal Period as Part of a Family Health Strategy. Aquichan [online]. 2013, vol.13, n.2, pp.261-269. ISSN 1657-5997.
Objective: The purpose of the study is to describe the experience of pregnant women residing in a city of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) who received low-risk prenatal care as part of a nursing initiative to deploy a family health strategy based on interaction and strengthening the bond between pregnant women and the service. Method: It is a qualitative initiative designed to develop activities involving home visits to pregnant women, health education on the gestational period, newborn care, and the organization of a pregnant women's group. Results: This experiment demonstrates that including a health service in a community is accomplished only by forming bonds in which the connection with people strengthens not only the autonomy of the beneficiaries, but also the entire health team. Conclusion: The experiences with the team and the population expanded the view on the importance of nurses in managing health care services and in promoting educational and health-care actions for women in the pregnancy-puerperium cycle.
