Abstract

HARO-ALVAREZ, Gonzalo  and  HERNANDEZ-RIVERA, Ariadna. Social Cohesion in Group Loans: Compliant, Regular, and Noncompliant. Soc. Econ. [online]. 2021, n.44, e10110494.  Epub Sep 01, 2021. ISSN 1657-6357.  https://doi.org/10.25100/sye.v0i44.10494.

The present work consists of comparing and explaining the role of social cohesion in groups that obtain a loan from a Niche Banking Institution, categorized as compliant, regular, and non-compliant groups. The methodology is qualitative, describing the behavior of the group loans from their contextualization and the construction of a social cohesion valuation table by groups. Among the main results: the groups of fulfilled loans present greater cohesion among their members, mainly if they are married. Delays in meetings and payments are the main cause of group deterioration. Contextualizing the group loans environment explains to a greater extent the causes that deteriorate the links between members and financial institutions.

Keywords : social cohesion; loan; multiple banking; niche banking.
