Abstract
GARCIA-VASQUEZ, Genny A. and MACIAS, Carlos M.. Economics of Care: Comparison of Time Use Surveys in Colombia with Some Selected Latin American Countries. Soc. Econ. [online]. 2022, n.46, e10711285. Epub May 12, 2022. ISSN 1657-6357. https://doi.org/10.25100/sye.v0i46.11285.
This article analyzes, in contrast, the Time Use Survey of Uruguay, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador and the National Time Use Survey -ENUT, designed by DANE in Colombia. The purpose of this comparative study is to pave the way to evaluate how care practices are established and how they become visible from their economic impact in the case of Colombia, through the emergence of some common characteristics in the countries studied. In other words, analyzing these surveys helps to establish a general panorama (Latin America) and a local one (Colombia) regarding how care practices are developed and how they become visible from their economic impact. By using Colombia as a country for local analysis, we seek to illustrate with sociodemographic elements the care needs and their social and economic implications for women and men.
