Abstract
CHALFIN COUTINHO, Maria; CELIA BORGES, Regina; PRISCILA GRAF, Laila and SUAVE DA SILVA, Aline. "Everyday in a Different House": Trajectories, Meanings and Maids'Working Life. Univ. Psychol. [online]. 2013, vol.12, n.4, pp.1127-1140. ISSN 1657-9267.
In the current context of work, there are a large number of employees working in the informal economy, in which they are located part in of the domestic workers and as cleaners. This research investigated the meanings produced by paid domestic workers as cleaners about their daily work life. This is a qualitative study conducted through interviews with eight workers. Data were analyzed according to the procedure "Significance Core", generating three categories: occupational trajectories, everyday practices and meanings of work in housecleaning. The results reveal discontinuous occupational trajectories, usually associated with the feminine contexts, in which the choice of being a cleaner, despite the precariousness, is associated with the advantages attributed to the occupation and the possibility to combine with other family activities. Therefore, there is a need for a crafty and creative mode of working-family balance.
