Abstract
PALLARES MUNOZ, Myriam Rocío and RODRIGUEZ CALDERON, Wilson. DISEÑO DE UNA HERRAMIENTA EDUCATIVA PARA ESTUDIAR LA ECUACIÓN DE LAPLACE - 2D CON DIFERENCIAS FINITAS: ANÁLISIS DEL EFECTO DE BORDES EN UN CONDENSADOR DE PLACAS PARALELAS. Rev. ing. univ. Medellin [online]. 2007, vol.6, n.10, pp.121-151. ISSN 1692-3324.
The new computer technologies open up an inexhaustible world of possibilities in the teaching environment. In the case of technical teachings, the usage of these technologies becomes indispensable because of the nature of current resources in industrial design and production. In this sense, the numerical methodologies offer a wide performance. On one hand, they act up as a transversal subject in the study curriculum of any engineering career. On the other hand, they lie on the bases of technological development where one benefits from constant feedback processes. This paper consists of the elaboration of a didactical material (educational tool) dedicated to teaching Laplace's equation in two dimensions by means of finite differences. The analysis of the effect of the borders in parallel-plates condenser is studied and directed to engineering students at the Santo Tomas University. This type of materials has been developed and successfully used within the new study curriculums by several universities worldwide over the past years. The software didactics have been created based upon the pre and post-process GiD graphic and as a programming language from the motor of calculation of finite differences to Fortran. The result is a very useful educational tool that allows an effective teacher-student communication and that can be adapted to classes as well as to the student's personal work.
