Abstract

HURTADO HERRERA, Deibar René. Configuration: A resource to understand patterns of imaginary meanings. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2008, vol.6, n.1, pp.81-110. ISSN 1692-715X.

In this paper, the category of configuration is proposed as a conceptual resource that forces us to establish as understanding horizon not meanings themselves but patterns of meaning, forms of relationships, interstices, and thresholds. From this perspective, there arises also a special emphasis on the need to make visible the generation of meanings and their patterns, in order to understand mixtures, meaning displacements, and new patterns of relationships that emerge from cultural practices and that make evident the difficulty to separate, cut or divide what is constructed from what is created, what is instituted from what is instituent, what is social from what is individual. It is a relational proposal that integrates construction and creation in a movement that leans at times more towards the social, at times more towards the individual; at times more to a certain meaning, at times more towards another meaning that could be considered its opposite. Similarly, this proposal attempts to also integrate an intermediate place, the liminal place, which enables these meanings to be not completely one or the other but allows them to be their mixture, their hybridity, their combination.

Keywords : Meanings; imaginaries; imaginary meanings; configurations; meaning patterns.
