Abstract
MARTINEZ, Marta and GARCIA, María Cristina. Child- rearing as study subject from the transactional model perspective. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2012, vol.10, n.1, pp.169-178. ISSN 1692-715X.
The purpose of this article is to revise the evolution of research on child- rearing as well as the present trends and research methodologies from the transactional model perspective. The transactional model recognizes the interplay of relationships between parents and their children considering the biological influence (nature) in relation with the vital experience (nurture) evolving to a more complex theory of human development. We also revise the importance of new statistic tools, such as mathematical modeling, which enable to address different kinds of questions and analysis and to provide empirical evidence to different possible hypothesis.
Keywords : developmental psychology; child-rearing research; transactional model; mathematical modeling.
