Abstract
GONZALEZ-RIVAS, Nazly. Wage discrimination: a comparative analysis between afro-colombian and non-afrocolombian women in Cali's metropolitan area. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2012, vol.10, n.1, pp.563-578. ISSN 1692-715X.
This paper researches whether or not ethnic-racial belonging is associated with the gaps in wages and salaries between Afro-Colombian and non-Afro-Colombian women in the metropolitan area of Cali (Colombia) in 2004. The Continuous Home Survey done in the second quarter of 2004 was used for this purpose. Mincer model salary equations (corrected for bias) were estimated, and the Blinder-Oaxaca methodologies were applied to define salary breakdown. The results show that a significant part of the salary differentials between Afro-Colombian and non-Afro- Colombian women, approximately 48%, could be result of the ethnic-racial discrimination.
Keywords : salary differentials; ethnic-racial discrimination.
