Abstract

MARTINEZ-NUNEZ, María Delia  and  MUNOZ-ZAMORA, Graciela. Construction of imaginaries regarding childhood and the formation of early childhood educators. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2015, vol.13, n.1, pp.343-355. ISSN 1692-715X.  https://doi.org/10.11600/1692715x.13120190814.

During recent decades, university education in Chile has experienced the onset of a technical rationality. This lacks a permanent and integrated reflection on childhood and its meaning in the formation of pre-school teachers. This paper analyses the concepts of childhood that predominate in the discourses and practices of pre-school educators at the Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educación in Chile. Qualitative methodologies, especially critical discourse analysis and other techniques, were used to explore the social imaginaries on childhood. Conclusions reveal the social imaginaries and their relevance in professional education and the students' personal experiences.

Keywords : childhood; primary education; teacher training; teaching practices; infancy imaginaries; pre-school teachers' formation.
